The villa

Set on a peaceful hillside above the village of Drakona, a short drive from Kolymvari, Villa Venetia occupies a private 5,000 sqm estate with views towards the Cretan Sea and surrounding landscape. The villa provides a quiet setting with convenient access to the nearby village and wider area.

Villa Venetia extends across 150 sqm and offers comfortable accommodation with indoor and outdoor spaces designed to make the most of the surrounding landscape. The villa features modern furnishings, neutral tones and a range of practical amenities for a relaxing stay.

On the ground floor, there is a bright open - plan living area with comfortable seating and a 65 - inch Smart Satellite TV. Large windows provide natural light, views of the surrounding scenery and direct access to the pool terrace. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with the appliances and facilities needed for preparing meals, while the adjoining indoor dining area seats up to eight guests.

Also on this level is the first bedroom, which features a queen - size bed and a private balcony overlooking the mountains. A shared bathroom with a shower and a separate laundry room with a washing machine complete the ground - floor facilities.

The upper floor contains three further bedrooms. The second bedroom has a queen - size bed, an en suite bathroom with a shower and a private balcony with sea and mountain views. The third bedroom features a king - size bed, an en suite bathroom and a private balcony overlooking both the sea and mountains. The fourth bedroom has a queen - size bed, an en suite bathroom with a shower and a private balcony with mountain views.

Outside, Villa Venetia features a 40 sqm private swimming pool with views across the sea and surrounding hills. Sun loungers and umbrellas are provided around the pool, along with an outdoor lounge area for relaxing throughout the day. An outdoor dining area seats up to eight guests and is complemented by a gas barbecue for preparing meals outdoors. The exterior facilities also include an outdoor shower and private parking.

The traditional village of Drakona lies in the countryside of western Crete, around 4 - 5 km south of the coastal town of Kolymvari. Set among olive groves and gently rising hills, it is a small rural settlement with a distinctly local character, offering a quieter setting than the busier resorts along the north coast.

The surrounding area is largely agricultural, with olive cultivation playing an important role in the landscape. Nearby villages such as Vouves and Spilia add to the area's traditional feel, while the wider Kolymvari region is known for its historic churches and longstanding connection with farming and local produce. The Monumental Olive Tree of Vouves, considered one of the world's oldest olive trees, is also close by.

For everyday amenities and access to the coast, Kolymvari is a short drive away. The town has shops, cafés and tavernas, as well as a small fishing harbour and a long pebble beach. Although tourism is established here, Kolymvari retains the atmosphere of a working coastal town and is generally quieter than the larger resorts further east towards Chania.

Drakona is also well placed for exploring western Crete by car. Chania lies to the east, while the villages and countryside around Kolymvari provide opportunities for walking, visiting traditional settlements and exploring local churches and historic sites. The location therefore combines a rural village setting with relatively straightforward access to the coast and the wider Chania region.The villa also provides an excellent base for exploring some of Crete's most iconic destinations, including Balos Lagoon, Falassarna Beach, Elafonissi Beach, and the historic monasteries of the region.
