What the Cosmic Villas idea looks like at its best
Villa Lux Luz is what the Cosmic Villas idea looks like at its best: around 700 square metres of house on the edge of Praia da Luz, built for groups who want to stay together properly. All ten bedrooms are en-suite twins (the beds push together into doubles), spread over three floors so three generations - or two families, or a whole golf society - can spread out and still meet at the pool.
Outside is where the villa earns its reputation. A large private pool with a children's pool at one end is ringed with day beds; the jacuzzi seats six under its own pergola; and the fully fitted outdoor kitchen and BBQ area - two fridges, a bar, seating for more than twenty - is where most of the week happens. There is a sauna and a proper 25 m² gym in the annexe, a badminton and volleyball court, pétanque, table tennis, and gardens with fruit trees and a lawn.
Praia da Luz itself is a relaxed former fishing village with a Blue Flag sandy beach and a palm-lined promenade, fifteen to twenty minutes on foot. Lagos is eight minutes by car, Boavista Golf five, and Faro airport about an hour. The villa is a favourite of multi-generational families, golf groups, retreats and celebrations - and it sleeps up to 30 with extra beds on request.
Ten bedrooms, eleven bathrooms
Every bedroom is an en-suite twin - the singles push together into doubles - spread over three floors. Four open straight onto the pool terrace; two upstairs have private sea-view balconies.
The outdoor kitchen is the heart
A fully fitted outdoor kitchen and BBQ area with its own bar, two fridges and seating for more than twenty. Most weeks are lived out here, from long lunches to late suppers.
Pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gym
A large private pool with a children's pool at one end (heatable out of season), a six-seat jacuzzi under its own pergola, and a sauna and proper 25 m² gym in the annexe.
Room to play
A badminton and volleyball court, pétanque, table tennis, and a 100 m² covered terrace that hosts everything from yoga retreats to birthday dinners.

Who the villa suits
- Multi-generational families are the villa's biggest fans - three generations under one roof with space to escape each other.
- Golf groups are five minutes from Boavista, with Espiche, Palmares, Santo António and Penina all within twenty.
- Retreats use the covered terrace, gym, sauna and quiet gardens; the villa hosts fitness camps and workations through the seasons.
Being honest: the villa is arranged over three floors with steps throughout, so it isn't suitable for wheelchair users, and it's a pet-free house.

Your home for the week sits on the edge of Luz, a relaxed former fishing village with a Blue Flag sandy beach and a palm-lined promenade - fifteen to twenty minutes on foot, with the village centre and a supermarket nearer still. Lagos is eight minutes by car, Boavista Golf five, and Faro airport about an hour. Fly into Faro, not Lisbon.
Weekly rates
From around €3,500 in winter, €5,000–€7,000 in the shoulder seasons, rising to €13,500 in peak August. Rates include the end-of-stay clean and tourist tax.
