The villa

Rising proudly from the Cretan landscape, Villa Thassidra looks almost sculpted from the very rock it stands on. Its bold stone tower, designed by Aristomenis Varoudakis, is both a contemporary statement and a nod to the island’s historic fortresses. Inside “The Keep,” four airy en-suite bedrooms are arranged across two floors, with sleek interiors of wood, stone, and glass that flood with natural light. The villa also includes “The Cottage” and “The Rock Apartment,” providing charming private spaces for couples or smaller groups, bringing the total capacity to twelve guests.

Step outside and the drama continues. Two infinity pools seem to spill into the horizon, one a lap pool at ground level with direct bedroom access, the other an endless pool framed by terraces and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. Secret corners invite you to linger: a shady reading spot under a carob tree, a circle of seats for evening gatherings, or a hidden bench for two with panoramic views. At Villa Thassidra, every angle is designed for connection, with nature, with light, and with the magic of Crete.

Perched on the Akrotiri peninsula, Villa Thassidra is ideally positioned for exploring some of western Crete’s most beautiful beaches. Within a short drive you’ll find the golden sands of Kalathas and Tersanas, the turquoise waters of Marathi, and the dramatic cove of Seitan Limania. Chania, just twenty minutes away, enchants with its Venetian harbour, lively markets, and winding lanes filled with boutique shops and tavernas. The region is steeped in history too, from monasteries and archaeological sites to traces of Minoan culture. For those craving adventure, the villa also provides easy access to the national road, opening up day trips to the pink sands of Elafonissi or the vast bay of Falassarna. Yet, return home and you’re wrapped in tranquillity, with only olive groves, thyme-scented air, and sweeping sea views for company.
