The villa

Villa Ornelia is a luxurious seafront retreat close to Taormina, offering breathtaking views over the Ionian Sea from its elegant rooms, charming balconies, and spacious terraces. Within the extensive grounds, guests enjoy direct access to the rocky shoreline and clear waters, while a sandy beach is just a 10-minute walk away.

Inside, the villa is light and stylish, blending antiques with modern comforts such as air-conditioning and Wi-Fi. The main living room is airy and opens directly onto the terraces, while a second lounge upstairs provides a quiet reading spot. The dining area is perfect for family meals, complemented by a fully equipped kitchen with space for quick breakfasts.

The villa accommodates up to 11 guests across six bedrooms - five doubles and one single - most with en-suite bathrooms. Additional family bathrooms ensure convenience for larger groups. A wellness area with gym equipment, treatment bed, and shower adds a touch of luxury.

Outdoors, the villa’s Mediterranean gardens and terraces provide ample space for relaxation. Highlights include a private pool with Jacuzzi, multiple seating and dining areas, and a barbecue corner overlooking the sea. The main al fresco dining terrace is a particularly memorable spot for sunset meals.

Just outside the villa, guests can enjoy both rocky coves and sandy shores. For culture and exploration, Taormina is a 20-minute drive away, with its Greco-Roman theatre, medieval streets, and chic cafés. Excursions to Mount Etna, Naxos, Alcantara River Park, or Catania add to the many experiences on offer.

Villa Ornelia enjoys an enviable position close to La Spezia and the Sicilian coast, with a wealth of attractions, history, and natural beauty within easy reach. Just a 10-minute walk brings you to local bars and restaurants serving traditional Sicilian cuisine, while a short drive takes you to supermarkets, banks, and gelato shops.

The region is rich in history, with highlights including the Archaeological Area of Naxos, where the ruins of an ancient Greek settlement sit alongside a modern museum, and Schisò Castle, which overlooks the bay of Giardini Naxos.

Beach lovers are spoilt for choice. While the villa has direct access to the rocky shore, the nearest sandy beaches are just a drive away. For quieter spots, head to Mazzarò (10km) or Isola Bella (11km), two of the most picturesque beaches near Taormina.

The hilltop town of Taormina itself (9km) is a must-visit, with its Greco-Roman theatre, medieval churches, and charming palaces, all set against breathtaking sea and hillside views. The town is also home to some of Sicily’s most popular beaches.

For outdoor adventures, Alcantara River Park (15km) offers hiking, swimming, and wildlife spotting among its dramatic gorges, while Mount Etna, just over an hour’s drive away, provides the chance to explore Europe’s most famous active volcano.
