The villa

This charming country house is set in the hills of Monferrato with glorious views of Piedmont vineyards from your private swimming pool and terrace. Within easy reach of the elegant spa town of Acqui Terme, it offers a scenic and restful base from which to explore the culinary treasures and celebrated wines of northern Italy’s most indulgent region.

The ground floor of Casa Ferri welcomes you with its bright open-plan interiors featuring a cosy lounge with Smart TV, a well-equipped kitchen-diner and doors opening to the terrace for summer meals beside the wood oven and barbecue. Sleeping up to 10 guests, there are five bedrooms upstairs - three pretty doubles and two twins. Both of the home’s bathrooms are newly renovated and modern.

Casa Ferri’s garden is completely enclosed and features a good-sized swimming pool and sun terrace with loungers. Sit back with a good book or simply embrace the picturesque setting with a glass of wine in hand from one of the finest wine-making regions in the world.

The handsome town of Acqui Terme is just over 5km away with its historic geothermal springs, cobbled lanes, wonderful shops and restaurants serving good local food and wine. Meanwhile, discover more about the emerging Gran Monferrato area in nearby Ovada, known for its bold wines and Ligurian-influenced cuisine, or venture to Alba and Asti for white truffles, chocolate, sparkling Moscato and lively markets. This is a region where wine, food and history come together in every experience.

Casa Ferri is set on a hillside surrounded by Monferrato vineyards in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, just over an hour from Genoa and the Ligurian coast.

With only a small handful of neighbours, the house enjoys a rural location around 2.5km from a small Piedmont village with a traditional restaurant. There is a wide range of amenities in Acqui Terme (5.5km) including supermarkets and a train station. The spa-town dates back to Roman times and is famed for its geothermal springs at La Bollente. Wander along cobbled lanes, shop to your heart's delight, admire the 11th century Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta and stop off in authentic restaurants and wine-bars serving some of the finest Piedmont wines. Look out for the twice-weekly market showcasing a wealth of delicious regional produce such as salami, truffles, cheeses and more. 

The wine-growing landscapes of Piedmont (Langhe, Roero and Monferrato) are classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. South of Alessandria (39km) and close to the wine town of Ovada (21km), this newer wine region is known as the Gran Monferrato and there are many excellent red wines to discover. Ovada boasts a fine selection of restaurants where guests can try regional dishes paired with local wines, blending the rich culinary traditions of both Piedmont and Liguria.

Further afield, venture towards the Langhe and Roero hills to discover more about this celebrated wine region, coming across historic wine estates and beautiful hilltop villages as you explore. Sample some of the finest wines in the world such as Barolo and Barbaresco in their place of origin. Food-lovers should experience the gastronomic town of Alba (58km) with its white truffles, chocolate heritage and wines, just over an hour by car, or head north to Asti (48km) for Baroque architecture, sparkling Moscato d’Asti and lovely local markets.
