The villa

Casa Comporta takes a different approach to villa living in Carvalhal, with a collection of independent spaces arranged around a central pool and outdoor living areas. Set across a 2,500 m² plot and just 1 km from the sandy beach, its unusual layout works particularly well for extended families and groups of friends who want to holiday together without sacrificing their own space.

Four private bungalows each function as an individual suite, complete with a bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette, while the main house forms the social heart of the property. Here, a fully equipped kitchen and generous living and dining spaces make group meals and evenings together easy, with two further bedroom suites positioned on either side.

Outside, terraces, garden pathways and several places to sit and unwind connect the different buildings with the private swimming pool at the centre. There’s also a barbecue for long lunches and dinners outdoors.

With six bedrooms, six bathrooms, air conditioning and plenty of room to spread out, Casa Comporta offers a clever balance of shared living and independence, all within easy reach of Carvalhal’s celebrated coastline.

Casa Comporta puts guests close to the best of the Comporta coast, with Carvalhal’s village life and long Atlantic beaches within easy reach. Praia do Carvalhal and nearby Praia do Pego are among the area’s highlights, with broad sweeps of sand backed by dunes and places to stop for fresh fish and drinks by the sea.

Beyond the beach, the wider Comporta region is shaped by rice fields, pine forests and the Sado Estuary. Days can be spent cycling through the countryside, horse riding, surfing or heading north towards Tróia for boat trips in search of the estuary’s resident dolphins.

Carvalhal itself has become a great spot for leisurely meals and browsing local shops, while Comporta village offers further restaurants and boutiques. For a change of scene, guests can also travel south towards Melides and its lagoon, making Casa Comporta a well - positioned base for discovering this distinctive stretch of Portugal’s Alentejo coast.
